"BadMotorScooter" (badmotorscooter)

I just did a quick check on Autotrader and it shows 41 new unsold 2013 FR-S and 10 BRZ. Some of the FR-S are 10 series manuals, perhaps the best version. Are these all dealers who won't deal? I'd like to thin that there would be some serious deals to be had on these leftover models. These will be 3 model years old very soon, and still new on a dealer lot. I'd want the oil changed and battery replaced if I bought one.

hope those cars haven't been baking in the sun for 3 years.

You really have to wonder what's going on at these dealerships. There were somehow 122 "new" Galants and 1 "new" RX-8 sold in 2014, even though they had both been out of production for 2 and 3 years, respectively.
At some point, you'd think they'd just decide to cut their losses rather than tying up capital in date-sensitive inventory for years on end.

There's a lot of great deals on leftovers on AutoTrader.
I found a 2013 Sonic LS hatchback for $13,184 (originally $17,105), 2013 Fiat 500 Sports for $13,490 (originally in the $19K range), 2013 Chrysler 200s for nearly $10k off (one was $23,285, now $14,579), 2013 Chevrolet Cruze Eco for $16,173 (was $24,020), and a bunch of Fiat 500 Abarths in the low $20Ks.

I got a better deal on my 2014 ST over a 2013 ST based on incentives. Idk if Scion runs incentives like Ford but I have a feeling that 2013 ST is still for sale.

That might be a good technique to find some really good deals if yu are in the market for a new vehicle. I perused a few new 2013s on Autotrader and there are some deals. How about a new 2013 ZR1 for $89k? Or a new 2013 Viper for $99k? I'm sure those prices could be reduced further with some negotiation.

It would be logical for manufacturers to ofer some special dealer incetives to move the old inventory. If not, how would they ever sell them if a newer model is a better deal?

No kidding. Some of them may have been sitting an never started for more than 2 years.

As long as they were never titled, the warranty has never started.

Right, but the dealer has capital tied up in the floorplan for these cars, and as they age they become even less valuable versus a current model year car. If the manufacturer doesn't have incentives behind the scenes, then these dealers will likely take a bath on these leftovers. Either way, these could be a deal for somebody willing to negotiate.

The only problem is the dealers. When I was shopping for an Outback, I went to a small town Subaru dealership to look at a leftover 2014 Outback, which was one of the last ones within 300 miles of me. The reason that I didn't get the car was that the dealer wasn't going to budge from the sticker price. I looked at the car back in November, and it is still on their lot. http://www.stridersubaru.com/new/Subaru/201…
I ended up getting a brand new 2o15 Specced out exactly the same way, fresh off the truck for a few hundred below invoice.

Does the warranty period start when you buy a car, or does it cover 5 years (or however long) from the date of manufacture?
Because if I could get a "new" RX-8 with a full warranty, that'd be so amazing I'd be willing to buy a new car

Well, Scion still does their "no haggling" pricing, right? I always kinda wondered what happened with left overs, given that if Toyota doesn't give them bigger incentives, the dealers themselves can't cut the prices.
